ABOUT ME
An Introduction
Although I recognize the value of introductions, I can't say that I really believe in them. There is no way that in a short paragraph anyone will have a firm understanding about who I am, if even a loose understanding. It's not because I don't think you guys are intuitive, or intelligent, but rather because I, myself, can't define who I am. I can't put a finger on what it is that makes me "standout," what it is that makes me "unique", and for that reason, I don't expect you to.
I could sit here and tell you how I like to paint and draw, I like to play guitar, I like thrift shops, galleries, traveling; I could talk about how much I love those that are closest to me, about how I'm a 19 year-old freshman at Penn State University, undecided and struggling, but the truth is that these things aren't what make me unique. There are almost 10,000 other Penn State freshman, hundreds of thousands who share similar interests with me, millions of other 19 year-olds, and let's be honest, we're all undecided and struggling. Yes, introductions might give you a nice sense of who that person is, a nice, to-the-point generalization. However, generalizations and assumptions so often become stereotypes with the power to limit and define us in ways that I don't want to be defined.
Regardless, I hope that you can take something away from my E-portfolio.

Interests
Just within this last semester, I've really been stressing about my future. More than anything, I feel that I'm wasting time and money being undecided. As I continue on my college journey, I can't help but feel an increasing pressure to make life decisions, that in all honesty, I am not ready to make. In a world where everything has become specialized, and there is less need for well-rounded individuals, I'm being told to narrow my interests down to one thing, one major, and to be the best, most educated professional in that particular field. However, my interests are spurred. I don't only like art, or anthropology, or literature, or politics, or business, and for this reason, I don't only want to focus on one of these fields.
With that being said, I still have to chose a major. In the last few weeks, I've been leaning towards majoring in art. I know it may not be the most "sensible" thing to do, but art has defined me ways that I can't describe; it's something that I can't imagine my life without. At the same time, I don't want what is now a hobby to become "work" that I no longer enjoy. There are a lot of things to consider, a lot of ups and downs, pros and cons. In the end, I'm just hoping that it will all work itself out.
Posted below is a slideshow featuring a few artworks I've created in the past year or two. I hope you enjoy!

SLIDESHOW
MUSIC
Music moves me. Listening to it, seeing it, playing it.
I picked up guitar about a year and a half ago, I'm really by no means good, and it's not something that a lot of people know about me. Nonetheless, I can't even begin to tell you how much time I have spent this past last year and a half fingerpicking tabs and singing along to my favorite folk rock songs.I have so much to learn, and so much to gain, and I honestly couldn't be more excited.
Here's a quick cover I did of Tree by the River by Iron & Wine:
